Charge

Working Group Scope

  • Develop and maintain standard system-wide policies and best practices regarding Acquisitions and Electronic Resources Management (ERM) in Alma throughout the SUNY Library Consortia.  

  • Propose and implement policies and procedures for sharing acquisitions and ERM information within the LSP and across the SLC.   

  • Facilitate best practices within the LSP for the SLC and individual campuses for the entire acquisitions and discovery life cycle of electronic and print materials to make management and evaluation of resources more efficient for individual campuses and the SLC as a whole. 

  • Research acquisitions management best practices and policies for print and electronic resources in a consortial environment, and recommend policies related to storing, sharing, and managing all related information.    

  • Stay abreast of current trends and recommend configurations and for individual and consortial functionality within the LSP.  

  • Propose optimal LSP system settings and recommend best practices for data management to produce reliable data for system-wide decision making. 

  • Analyze e-resource delivery and discovery and recommend best practices to relevant working groups that are user-friendly and encourage the best use of local and system-wide resources.  

  • Review training needs as Alma evolves and offer suggestions and plans to appropriate working groups or task forces.  

  • Maintain ongoing documentation such as Libguide and FAQ pages. 

This group will work closely with the SLC’s Commercial Products Committee and the SLC Network Zone Manager. 


Charge for the 2019-2020 year:

  • Identify gaps in current FAQs.

  • Review training needs. 

  • Work with SLSS to develop practices for managing consortia packages and analytics

  • How to document perpetual use for journal titles

  • Update license and policy recommendations from the previous AWG and ERM groups
